It’s not new to see some of your favorite top picks from childhood embracing the silver screen. From The Jungle Book, Mulan to The Lion King, these beloved stories paved their way to the big screen in 21st-century-style, live-action movies and the results were simply fascinating.
However, that’s not always the case. In fact, the live-action ‘Clifford the Big Red Dog’ trailer, dropped by the Paramount Studios on Tuesday, recounts a different tale altogether, mostly leaving the netizens with goosebumps.
To put it simply, Clifford the Big Red Dog, commencing from a TV character and children’s book, looks anything but cute in his first live-action movie.
Sparkling a new outlook for dogs that is bent more toward scary than cute, the release of the trailer has the internet’s tails and tongues a-wagging. Though in general, the reactions are split between people, with one end-all pepped up with thrilling excitement to see their favorite childhood pooch grace the big screen.
However, the other end has the people mostly scared of the live-action representation of ‘Clifford the Big Red Dog’. Masses have pointed at the stills from the live-action trailer to being reminiscent of a horror film or representing a commercial for anxiety medication. In fact, a number of individuals have debated on the logistics of a giant puppy walking around the lanes of New York City with apparently no one finding anything out of place.
Why don’t you too take a look at the trailer of ‘Clifford the Big Red Dog’:
Naturally, Twitter is ablaze with these contradicting outlooks.
For instance, Jen Langliotti deadpanned an avid user, commented about his absolutely horrified stance, post watching the big red dog coming alive in the live-action movie trailer of ‘Clifford the Big Red Dog’.
Whereas another user, Delia Harrington, with great enthusiasm wrote about her ardent love for the red dog and her excitement of passing this legacy to her nieces and nephews.
However, even if for a minute out there, we take into consideration the fact that looks can be deceptive, still the cinematic red giant stands far from the general ‘cute’ and ‘adorable’ dog outlook.
The live-action movie Clifford the Big Red Dog stars Darby Camp, Jack Whitehall, Tony Hale, and Kenan Thompson.
The Red Giant will descend on theatres on September 17.
